Yonsei University Hospital System (YUHS) said it recently received a donation of 50 million won ($34,629) from the game developer Gear2.
The social welfare fund received from Gear2 will be used to improve medical accessibility for pediatric and adolescent patients who are in underserved areas and to assist with their treatment.
Through social welfare donations received from various sectors of society, YUHS provides a range of medical services to patients in need. The support targets low-income patients in medical blind spots, such as those from basic livelihood security households. After procedures including interviews with medical social workers, document evaluations, and review by the operations committee, the patients are selected, and comprehensive medical services such as consultations, tests, and surgeries are provided.
YUHS CEO Keum Ki-chang stated, “Gear2’s support will give hope to many patients,” and added, “We will continue to support patients who cannot receive proper treatment due to financial difficulties and do our best to improve the quality of healthcare.”
Gear2 CEO Kim Min-sang said, “I hope that children facing financial hardships will have the opportunity to recover their health and pursue their dreams.”
