Huons announced on Friday that it recently obtained Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) certification from the Korea Customs Service (KCS).

The Korean pharmaceutical company received AEO status in both export and import categories simultaneously.

The AEO certification is an international standard adopted by the World Customs Organization (WCO) that recognizes businesses as secure and compliant with customs regulations.

A company with AEO certification meets the KCS’s authorization requirements in areas such as legal compliance, internal control systems, financial stability, and safety management.

Additionally, AEO-certified companies receive various benefits, including reduced inspection rates and priority clearance processing, under mutual recognition agreements (MRAs) with 25 other countries that have adopted the AEO system—among them major trading partners like the U.S. and China.

According to Huons, the AEO program is implemented in 97 countries, including the U.S., China, and the European Union (EU).

Huons CEO Song Soo-young said, “We are facing many challenges in global trade in a highly uncertain environment, including protectionism in international trade. However, we are confident that this AEO certification will enhance the company's global competitiveness and assist in exploring new markets.”
