The Korean Society of Medical Oncology (KSMO) will host its annual international conference, KSMO 2025, from Sept. 3 to 5 at the Grand Walkerhill Hotel in Seoul, celebrating 20 years of progress in oncology.
Under the theme “Excellence, Innovation, and Hope in Cancer Care,” the three-day event will bring together global oncology leaders to share cutting-edge developments in cancer treatment, precision medicine, and new drug development. This year’s expanded program will also feature commemorative sessions reflecting on the society’s two-decade history and outlining its strategic vision for the next 10 years.
The conference will include joint symposia with eight international societies, including the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO), and the Japanese Society of Medical Oncology (JSMO). These sessions will focus on trends in cancer treatment and cross-border collaboration, reinforcing KSMO’s growing global footprint.
A standout feature of KSMO 2025 will be the “Cancer Inequity” session, led by young oncology professionals from the Asia-Pacific region. This session will explore solutions to address disparities in cancer care access, promoting regional cooperation based on clinical experiences and local research data. Organizers hope the forum will foster the next generation of international oncology leaders.
“This year’s conference will serve as a global platform for cancer experts to discuss both current practices and future directions in oncology,” KSMO 2025 Organizing Committee Chair Lee Myung-ah said. “It will also offer a valuable opportunity for scientific exchange and international networking.”
KSMO 2025 will offer hands-on education sessions tailored to a wide range of participants, including medical students, trainee physicians, and nurses. For the first time, an AI-powered real-time Korean-English translation service will be available to ensure Korean attendees can engage fully with English-language presentations.
The conference will also deepen its engagement with industry, offering satellite symposia showcasing the latest in oncology drug development and clinical applications.
These sessions are designed to facilitate in-depth discussions on innovative therapeutic strategies and treatment insights.
A Welcome Reception will debut this year, providing a casual setting for attendees to connect and expand their professional networks. The conference has also been extended to three days to accommodate a more robust academic exchange.
In celebration of its 20th anniversary, KSMO will host a “Future 10-Year Vision Declaration Ceremony,” where it will outline strategic goals for building a sustainable cancer care ecosystem over the next decade.
“KSMO 2025 will be a meaningful opportunity to reflect on our past achievements and set a clear direction for the future of oncology in Korea and beyond,” KSMO President Park Joon-oh said.
