After drawing 36,000 visitors to its K-beauty booth at KCON LA over the weekend, Korea’s Olive Young said it plans to open its first U.S. store in Los Angeles in the first half of next year.
The Korean beauty retailer confirmed Tuesday that it had established a U.S. subsidiary and selected LA as the launch site, though final decisions on store layout, product offerings, and floor space are still pending.
A spokesperson told Korea Biomedical Review that construction typically begins about three months before opening and declined to provide further detail.
The announcement follows Olive Young’s largest-ever overseas activation, a 430-square-metre booth at KCON LA 2025, where 66 Korean beauty brands and 164 products were on display.
The event, widely seen as the flagship global K-pop fan festival, drew a total of 125,000 attendees from Friday to Sunday at Crypto.com Arena and the Los Angeles Convention Center.
Alongside popular skincare brands like Mediheal, Round Lab and ISOI, the booth featured skin diagnostics, sunscreen tests, and a four-step skincare routine display aimed at first-time K-beauty users. Starter kits and trial zones sparked long queues, according to the company.
Olive Young also used the platform to promote 30 emerging brands selected in partnership with Korea’s Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the Korea SMEs and Startups Agency. Its house labels -- BIOHEAL BOH, BRINGGREEN and colorgram -- were showcased separately to highlight their appeal to U.S. consumers.
While the company already operates a global e-commerce site, the LA store marks its first physical entry into the American retail market.
