Global eye care company Alcon said it has appointed Wojciech Michalik as the new head of its Korea Vision Care unit effective Oct. 1. At the same time, former Korea head Bang Hyo-jeong has been promoted to lead Alcon’s Europe Vision Care Cluster, overseeing nine markets including Poland, Turkey, the Benelux countries, and the Nordic region.

Michalik is a veteran of more than 15 years in the ophthalmology sector, having built his career exclusively in eye care since starting as a product manager at CIBA Vision. Most recently, he served as head of the Benelux Vision Care Cluster, covering Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg. His previous roles also included leadership positions in Poland and South Africa, where he demonstrated both a global mindset and strong leadership capabilities.

Known for his results-oriented strategies, innovative thinking, and ability to build strong teams, Michalik is expected to drive sustainable growth in Korea under his leadership philosophy of “aim high, embrace challenges, build strong teams, and broaden horizons.”

Bang, who led Korea Alcon’s Vision Care business since 2019, expanded market share in key categories through strategic thinking and strong execution.

Under her leadership, the Korean subsidiary achieved rapid business growth and became the first among Alcon’s global affiliates to be named “Alcon Affiliate of the Year” for three consecutive years beginning in 2022.

Roger Lopez, president of Alcon International Vision Care, said the latest appointments reflect the company’s strategy of fostering internal talent into global leadership roles.

“We believe the leadership and performance both Michalik and Bang have demonstrated in their respective markets will contribute to building sustainable businesses and strengthening the capabilities of our international Vision Care division,” Lopez said.
