GE HealthCare Korea said it has signed a memorandum of understanding with Phantomics, a Korean startup focused on AI cardiac imaging, to streamline heart exams and analysis in hospitals.
The companies will co-develop education materials, clinical guidelines and hospital workshops, and work on improving image quality, shortening scan times and tuning protocols for clinical use.
GE HealthCare will train clinicians on equipment operation, while Phantomics will provide training on cardiac MRI and analysis. The partners also plan to co-develop new product features and join customer meetings to focus on practical clinical value.
Founded in 2019, Phantomics develops MRI-based cardiac analysis software and won a CES 2024 Innovation Award. The startup is building a diagnostic platform aimed at earlier detection and prevention of cardiovascular disease.
“We have been working to lower the barriers to MRI and CT cardiac exams with AI specialized for the heart,” Phantomics CEO Kim Pan-ki said.
“Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death globally and the second in Korea after cancer,” said Kim Yong-duk, general manager of GE HealthCare Korea. “Together with Phantomics, we will work to reduce exam times and improve accuracy to support prevention and treatment.”
