Keimyung University Dongsan Medical Center's Cardiology Department has been designated as Abbott’s “AVEIR VR Training and Proctor Center” for next-generation wireless pacemakers, overseeing procedure training for Korean medical professionals.
Dongsan Medical Center announced on Wednesday that its Arrhythmia Team, composed of Cardiology Professors Park Hyoung-seob, Hwang Jong-min, Chung Tae-wan, and Jung Min-su, was designated as the center in recognition of its accumulated clinical experience and excellent procedural outcomes in leadless pacemaker procedures.
Dongsan Medical Center's AVEIR™ VR Training and Proctor Center is also the only medical institution in Korea to have two proctors. In this context, proctors are senior experts in complex medical procedures who are responsible for instructing and supervising other medical professionals during real procedures.
Like conventional pacemakers, the AVEIR™ VR is a capsule-shaped wireless device implanted directly in the heart, requiring only a minimal incision. Its screw-type fixation allows for positioning adjustments or removal when needed, enhancing patient safety.
“This designation elevates regional medical standards,” Dongsan Medical Center Director Ryoo Young-wook said. “We will continue providing advanced arrhythmia treatments and training personnel.”
