The two institutions plan to increase the efficiency of multidisciplinary care by digitalizing the referral and consultation process and reinforcing clinical connection pathways between tertiary hospitals and regional centers.

The virtual consultation model is intended to support patient-centered digital services that help improve health equity by reducing travel burdens for patients who require specialized expertise.

Seongae Hospital will serve as a demonstration site for the virtual collaborative care system. Patients at Seongae Hospital will be able to receive multidisciplinary consultation services from Yonsei Cancer Center without having to visit in person.

The initiative is part of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy’s R&D project titled “K-VCC, Korea-Virtual Collaborative Care Service,” aimed at developing and validating a regional virtual consultation platform to address unmet medical needs. Naver Cloud participated in the development process.

The platform provides integrated management that enables all steps from referral to clinical response to occur within one environment. Messenger, calendar and video-conference functions support schedule coordination and real-time consultation. Built on Naver Cloud, the system offers enhanced security and stability, allowing multiple institutions to exchange clinical information safely.

A total of 12 medical institutions are participating in the platform demonstration, including Seongae Hospital, the Korea Health Promotion Institute’s Jeju branch clinic, Yeosu Jeil Hospital and Pyeongchang County Health and Medical Center. The collaboration network continues to expand, with Jeju Halla Hospital expected to join.

“The agreement marks a meaningful step toward applying a virtual collaboration model in real clinical environments and added that the center will continue to work closely with Seongae Hospital to establish a more efficient structure for multidisciplinary care among clinicians,” Yonsei Cancer Center Vice Director Kim Yong-bae said.
