Under the accord, the GS MS will supply 6.1 billion won ($5.5 million) worth of its diagnostic kit to Romania from next month. It plans to respond to private and public projects in the East European country jointly with MCM EVA SRL, and expand the supply to more than 50 billion won by September.

The agreement comes after the Korean actively targeted the global rapid antigen diagnosis kit market. The company has also signed similar export deals with Germany, Hungary, Poland, and Switzerland.

“Just like the influenza kits, the company expects that the global community will continue to use Covid-19 diagnostic kits even after the pandemic ends,” GS MS CEO Ahn Eun-uk said. “The company will actively expand its market share for the device by exporting it to South America and Asia, too.”

The company’s diagnostic kit, launched in November last year, diagnoses Covid-19 infection within 10 minutes. It works by collecting phlegm samples and observing antigen-antibody binding reactions to check for possible infections.
