Medtronic Korea said Thursday that it has signed a partnership with the Korean Society of Type 1 Diabetes to support people living with type 1 diabetes.

In addition to providing insulin pumps to help people with type 1 diabetes manage their blood sugar, Medtronic has signed an agreement with the organization to support various projects to support the lives of people with type 1 diabetes, the company added.

Medtronic Korea Vice President and Managing Director Yoo Seung-rok (left) and Kim Mi-young, head of the Korean Society of Type 1 Diabetes, signed a partnership to support people with type 1 diabetes.

For instance, Medtronic Korea will provide insulin pumps and supplies for one year to adult type 1 diabetes patients aged 19 and older who were not covered by the insurance benefit expanded earlier this year. The recipients will receive all out-of-pocket expenses for insulin pumps and supplies for one year.

The company will also conduct a public campaign to dispel myths about type 1 diabetes and raise social awareness of the disease.

"We decided to partner with Medtronic Korea after considering what we can do to help Korean patients who do not have access to the latest technology despite the advancement of artificial pancreas systems around the world," Medtronic Korea Vice President and Managing Director Yoo Seung-rok said. "We will continue to work together with type 1 diabetes patients to realize Medtronic's mission of alleviating suffering, restoring health, and extending life for patients."
