KSMO to host 'Best of MASCC 2024 in Korea' this Saturday in Seoul
The Korean Academy for Supportive Care in Cancer (KASCC) said Wednesday that it will hold the “Best of MASCC 2024 in Korea” event this Saturday at the Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas.
Hosted by the Korean Society of Medical Oncology (KSMO) and organized by KASCC, this annual event, now in its third year, will summarize key studies from the Multinational Association of Supportive Care in Cancer (MASCC) Annual Meeting held in Lille, France, from June 27-29.
The program aims to provide Korean medical professionals and oncology and palliative care specialists with the latest research findings. Following the signing of a KASCC-MASCC memorandum of understanding (MOU) in 2022, the event has been held annually in Korea.
The “Best of MASCC in Korea” will feature five sessions. The first session will cover the latest guidelines, while the second session, held in collaboration with the Korean Oncology Nursing Society, the Korean Psycho-oncology Society, and the Cancer Rehabilitation Society, will offer a multidisciplinary review of studies presented at the MASCC Annual Meeting. A luncheon symposium, sponsored by Pharmbio Korea, will introduce new fentanyl formulations for optimal cancer pain management.
The afternoon program includes summaries of selected topics from MASCC’s parallel sessions, such as homecare, burnout prevention for healthcare professionals, and strategies to prevent febrile neutropenia. The plenary session will feature a lecture by MASCC President Florian Scotté, an oncology professor at Paris-Saclay University in Gif-sur-Yvette, France, on the latest insights into managing cancer treatment toxicity.
“Restoring the quality of life diminished by disease and treatment is just as important as life-prolonging treatment for cancer patients,” said KASCC President Kang Jung-hun, a professor of hemato-oncology at Gyeongsang National University Hospital. “KASCC recognizes this pressing need and is committed to leading efforts to achieve this goal.”
