Ewha Womans University Mokdong Hospital, 1st in Korea to install Siemens’ latest MRI
Ewha Womans University Mokdong Hospital has become the first medical institution in Korea to adopt the MAGNETOM Cima.X, the latest high-performance MRI system from Siemens Healthineers. The hospital announced that the system will begin clinical operation starting Aug. 11, ushering in a new era of ultra-precise imaging diagnostics.
The MAGNETOM Cima.X offers significantly enhanced imaging performance, enabling ultra-high-resolution scans capable of visualizing even the smallest blood vessels.
Compared to its predecessor, the MAGNETOM Vida, the new system is equipped with a next-generation gradient system featuring a maximum gradient amplitude of 200 mT/m and a slew rate of 200 T/m/s, approximately 3.33 times more powerful, allowing for faster and more precise diagnostics across multiple clinical areas, including brain and vascular imaging, spine, musculoskeletal, abdominal, and urological assessments.
One of the system’s key advantages lies in its ability to acquire thin-slice images in complex anatomical regions such as the head, cervical spine, lower back, pelvis, and abdomen, ensuring sharper, more detailed images than ever before.
Additionally, the built-in BioMatrix Sensor automatically detects a patient’s respiratory pattern as soon as they lie on the table, streamlining the imaging process and increasing diagnostic efficiency.
The system also includes advanced motion correction capabilities, making it suitable for vulnerable patient groups such as critically ill patients and newborns who cannot be sedated.
These features allow clinicians to obtain stable, accurate images without compromising patient comfort or safety.
“With the MAGNETOM Cima.X MRI system, we are now able to visualize even delicate structures such as brain nerves more clearly, significantly improving diagnostic accuracy,” said Professor Kim Eun-hee of the Department of Radiology at Ewha Womans University Mokdong Hospital.
Ewha Womans University Mokdong Hospital Director Kim Han-su also said, “Ewha Womans University Mokdong Hospital will continue investing in cutting-edge medical technologies to deliver personalized, patient-centered care.”
The adoption of advanced medical equipment like the Cima.X will help establish new standards in diagnostic excellence, Kim added.
