Siemens Healthineers Korea has signed a strategic memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Phantomics, a Korean cardiac imaging AI specialist, to jointly advance clinical adoption of AI-powered cardiac MRI analysis.

Under the MOU, the two companies will collaborate on integrating Phantomics’ AI-based cardiac MRI solution, Myomics, into Siemens Healthineers’ imaging systems and clinical workflow.

The initiative aims to reduce the barriers that have historically limited the widespread use of cardiac MRI, including its technical complexity, reliance on highly specialized personnel, and cost-effectiveness concerns.

According to the World Health Organization, cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of death worldwide. Although cardiac MRI is considered one of the most accurate tools for diagnosing heart conditions, its adoption in clinical practice has been limited.

By combining Phantomics’ AI capabilities with Siemens Healthineers’ global technical infrastructure and expertise, the two companies aim to democratize cardiac MRI usage and bring precision diagnostics to more hospitals and patients.

As part of the collaboration, Siemens Healthineers and Phantomics will work on optimizing AI-based cardiac MRI analysis tailored to Siemens imaging systems, co-develop joint research publications using real-world clinical data, and host educational seminars and training programs for healthcare professionals.

They will also conduct pilot studies in leading hospitals and co-host clinical seminars to strengthen engagement with medical institutions.

Phantomics co-CEO Kim Pan-ki also said, “Cardiac MRI is among the most precise tools for diagnosing cardiovascular disease, but it is often underutilized due to high costs and reliance on expert interpretation.”

Phantomics aims to significantly enhance diagnostic efficiency and accuracy with its AI-based automated analysis technology, Kim added.

Kim stressed that the MOU with Siemens Healthineers will help accelerate the widespread adoption of cardiac MRI and lower the barriers to precision medicine.
