Samsung Medison is set to introduce its latest obstetric ultrasound system, HERA Z20, at the 27th Fall Conference of the Korean Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology (KSUOG), taking place in Daegu from Friday to Saturday.
The HERA Z20, designed to enhance the health of women and fetuses, is equipped with advanced AI-assisted diagnostic features. One of its key innovations is the Live ViewAssist, which automatically extracts necessary cross-sectional images during fetal scans and provides measurements crucial for each stage of pregnancy.
Another notable AI-powered feature is EzVolume, which aids in the segmentation of 3D ultrasound images, such as the placenta, uterus, amniotic fluid, and fetal structures like the face and torso. This function allows users to selectively view specific structures and adjust colors and transparency for more intuitive 3D visualizations.
In line with Samsung Medison's commitment to sustainability, the HERA Z20 has undergone a generational shift in design, utilizing digital, high-efficiency materials that reduce standby power consumption by approximately 40 percent compared to previous premium models.
The company also uses 55 percent recycled eco-friendly materials for the device’s plastic components and optimized packaging with 100 percent recycled paper for cushioning materials.
Samsung Medison also focused on enhancing user convenience with My HERA, a customizable system that allows users to tailor settings based on individual preferences, optimizing the system for various user types.
To celebrate the HERA Z20's launch, Samsung Medison will operate theSUITE Lounge during the event, where attendees can explore the device's new features along with user-friendly medical IT solutions from French AI startup Sonio, which Samsung Medison recently acquired.
The company will hold an expert meeting titled "Advances & Challenges with AI in Fetal Healthcare", featuring prominent speakers, including Professor Kwon Ja-young from Severance Hospital, Professor Cho Hyun-jin from Haeundae Paik Hospital, and Bang Won-chul, Senior Vice President of Samsung Medison.
Professor Kwon will deliver a presentation on AI-assisted fetal brain screening and Samsung Medison’s 5D CNS+ technology, which supports fetal brain ultrasound examinations, and Professor Cho will discuss the role of AI in ultrasound technology, focusing on the Live ViewAssist and EzVolume features in her presentation titled "Ultrasound and AI—Where Are We?"
Vice President Bang will wrap up the session with a presentation on the impact of AI advancements in obstetrics, highlighting how new platforms and engines are enhancing image quality in his talk, "Breaking New Ground: Unveiling the Latest Advancements in Ultrasound Technology for ObGyn."
"We aim to lead both the domestic and global OB/GYN ultrasound markets with the HERA Z20, which was developed with a focus on diagnostic accuracy and user convenience,” Samsung Medison CEO Yoo Kyu-tae said. “We will continue to introduce AI-powered diagnostic features and new products with a customer-centric approach."
