GE HealthCare Korea has designated Suwon’s Hwahong Hospital as its latest Asia regional reference site, expanding the facility’s role from a domestic partner to a showcase hub for international clients from Korea, ASEAN, Australia, and New Zealand.

The deal, signed last Tuesday, builds on a 2024 memorandum of understanding between the two organizations aimed at optimizing the use of GE’s CT and MRI equipment through digital tools and clinical training. Under that agreement, GE provided technology support and updated training, while the hospital supplied real-world feedback and hosted site visits.

Now elevated to reference site status, Hwahong meets GE’s strict criteria for technology use, clinical environment and operational efficiency, according to a GE HealthCare Korea spokesperson.

As a live demonstration site, the company said Hwahong will host visits from GE’s overseas clients looking to evaluate real-world implementation of the company’s medical technologies. Site tours are coordinated through GE’s local teams, who work directly with customers and GE HealthCare Korea to schedule visits and facilitate benchmarking opportunities.

Hwahong currently operates a full suite of GE equipment, including the SIGNA Pioneer MRI, Revolution APEX Elite and Revolution EVO CT systems, and digital X-ray, bone densitometry, and 3D mammography devices.

GE HealthCare said the move is part of its broader strategy to showcase Korea’s advanced healthcare infrastructure and support stronger clinical systems across the Asia-Pacific region.
