Sky Labs said Thursday it officially rolled out a personal ring-type blood pressure monitor, CART BP, now available for online purchase without a hospital prescription.
CART BP, priced at 550,000 won ($392), was originally developed based on the technology of CART BP Pro, which has been prescribed in hospitals under health insurance coverage. Having already proven its clinical efficacy and received certification as a medical device from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, CART BP is now being extended into the consumer market.
By simply wearing the ring, users can measure blood pressure throughout daily life, including during sleep.
Conventional home blood pressure monitors require a cuff and apply pressure to the arm, making it difficult to measure blood pressure during sleep and limiting their ability to check nighttime levels.
CART BP enables nighttime blood pressure measurement, allowing for comfortable recording even during sleep. It also continuously monitors morning blood pressure, enabling users to track changes throughout the day. This facilitates early management and prevention of cardiovascular diseases such as stroke, cerebral hemorrhage, and myocardial infarction.
Normal blood pressure typically drops by about 10–20 percent at night compared to daytime levels. Conversely, if nighttime blood pressure is higher than daytime levels, the risk of dementia increases by up to 64 percent compared to elderly individuals with normal blood pressure patterns.
Given that stroke incidence is particularly high between 6 a.m. and noon, daily blood pressure monitoring is especially critical.
CART BP wearers can track real-time changes through the dedicated app “My Blood Pressure Calendar,” which visualizes average blood pressure and fluctuations by time and date in a graphical format. This allows for intuitive understanding of blood pressure patterns and more systematic, personalized health management.
The device is now available for direct purchase through Sky Labs' official online store (www.skylabs.io), Naver Smart Store, Coupang, and other platforms. The process requires customers to confirm finger measurements using the included “sizing kit” before receiving the final product.
“CART BP is a home-use extension product that makes hospital-verified technology accessible in everyday life,” Sky Labs CEO Lee Byung-hwan said. “Its greatest strength is enabling personalized management tailored to lifestyle patterns, including blood pressure monitoring during sleep.”
Sky Labs also plans to pair the launch with social contribution efforts, donating CART BP devices to residents of Goseong County, Gangwon Province, where medical infrastructure is limited, to help improve access to blood pressure management.
