Sky Labs said Tuesday its ring-type cuffless blood pressure monitor CART BP has been recognized as the only device that meets three of the six key criteria recommended by the European Society of Hypertension (ESH) for cuffless blood pressure measurement.
These findings were presented by domestic and international experts at the Korean Society of Hypertension (KSH 2025) Autumn Conference, suggesting that cuffless blood pressure monitors could usher in a paradigm shift in clinical blood pressure management. CART BP is the "only cuffless blood pressure monitor in the world" covered by Korea’s national health insurance, Sky Labs noted.
The conference was held from Nov. 6–8 at the Conrad Seoul Hotel, and during a special session on Nov. 7, Professor Gianfranco Parati of Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Milano-Bicocca and Professor Kim Ji-hoon of Samsung Medical Center presented the clinical implications of cuffless blood pressure measurement and the latest CART BP study results.
Professor Parati said that observing blood pressure patterns during daily life and sleep is more clinically meaningful than a single in-office measurement. He explained that CART BP enables stable, continuous monitoring of long-term blood pressure patterns during both daily activities and sleep while minimizing discomfort. Nighttime blood pressure elevation, he added, increases cardiovascular disease risk by 57 percent in patients with masked nocturnal hypertension, underscoring the importance of continuous monitoring.
By contrast, traditional methods -- such as single clinic measurements, manual home readings, or 24-hour cuff-based devices -- cannot accurately reflect long-term blood pressure patterns due to structural limitations.
Professor Kim presented data showing that CART BP met three internationally accepted core clinical criteria: comparison with 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM), invasive arterial pressure, and office-based measurements.
He noted that while many cuffless devices fail to meet global standards, the CART BP Pro passed rigorous evaluations. It has already satisfied three of the six categories in the 2023 ESH cuffless guidelines and is undergoing trials for the remaining three.
Professor Lee Hae-young of Seoul National University Hospital said the shift from cuff-based to cuffless monitoring is an irreversible trend.
Sky Labs CEO Lee Byung-hwan added that the company will continue expanding research and data accumulation to further strengthen clinical reliability.
