Samsung Medison to unveil AI diagnostic tools for perinatal care at FAOPS2024 in Seoul

Samsung Medison said Thursday that it would present its research on AI diagnostic aids for fetuses, newborns, and pregnant women and mobile CT for pediatric full-body imaging at the 23rd Federation of Asia and Oceania Perinatal Societies (FAOPS2024), which will be held at COEX, southern Seoul, from Sept. 4 to 6.

Founded in 1978, FAOPS is Asia's largest society in perinatology, which covers the care of fetuses, newborns, and pregnant women before and after delivery from 20 weeks of gestation to 28 days after birth. It is the first time in 26 years since 1998 that FAOPS has held its annual congress in Korea.

Samsung Medison will showcase its premium ultrasound diagnostic device for obstetrics and gynecology, HERA W10 Elite, and mobile CT, OmniTom Elite, at the event, which will focus on collaboration for better perinatal care in the Asia-Oceania region.

“To highlight our increased competitiveness in the field of ultrasound diagnostics for obstetrics and gynecology, we will invite internationally renowned speakers to share their research achievements using Samsung ultrasound diagnostic devices and AI diagnostic aids,” the company explained.

In the afternoon session on the third day of the congress, Professor Liona Poon, a department of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and Professor Aparna Sharma of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), who led the formulation of India's fetal care guidelines, will deliver lectures focusing on HeartAssist, an AI diagnostic assistant for heart measurement, and MV-Flow, an automatic blood vessel detection feature.

“We will exhibit OmniTom Elite to showcase its convenient mobility that solves space constraints and its high versatility, including full-body imaging of newborns,” Samsung Medison said. “OmniTom Elite can be used in neonatal and pediatric intensive care units and operating rooms without moving to a CT room.”
