BARCELONA, Spain -- By Kim Chan-hyuk Korea Biomedical Review correspondent -- CPHI Worldwide 2023 kicked off for a three-day run at the Fira Barcelona Gran Via convention center in Barcelona, Spain, on Tuesday.
CPHI (Convention on Pharmaceutical Ingredients) is the world's largest pharma and bio exhibition, traveling to major European countries annually. It is one of the largest events for the pharma and bio-industry alongside BioUSA. It is attended by manufacturers and sellers of raw materials and finished pharmaceutical products, as well as contract development and manufacturing organizations (CDMOs).
More than 2,500 pharma and biotech companies from 170 countries worldwide are expected to participate in this year's event, which will be held until Thursday, attracting more than 45,000 industry professionals.
With CPHI Barcelona's opening, Korean companies' booths participating in the event were also unveiled. Samsung Biologics, Lotte Biologics, Celltrion, Hanmi Pharmaceutical, Daewoong Pharmaceutical, GC Biopharma, Dong-A ST, JW Holdings, and Prestige Biopharma have set up exclusive booths.
In addition, about 40 others run their booths within the Korean Pavilion set up by the Korea Pharmaceutical Traders Association.
