Severance Hospital has been ranked No. 1 in the Korean Standards Well-Being and Environment Index (KS-WEI) for the 19th consecutive year.
The hospital said Wednesday that it was named No. 1 in the general hospital category in the 2025 KS-WEI evaluation, conducted by the Korean Standards Association (KSA). Later in the day, an award ceremony was held at the Lotte Hotel in downtown Seoul.
The KSA evaluates products and services across five categories: health, environment, safety, satisfaction, and social responsibility. These are used to measure well-being competitiveness, while overall, relative, and emotional satisfaction are used to assess well-being satisfaction.
Severance Hospital received the highest scores in the safety, customer satisfaction, and social responsibility categories of the Well-Being Competitiveness Index, as well as in the overall, relative, and emotional satisfaction categories of the Well-Being Satisfaction Index. According to the hospital, it has maintained the top spot since 2007, thanks to its patient-centered philosophy and cutting-edge treatments.
“We are truly honored to be ranked No. 1 in the general hospital category of the consumer living environment satisfaction index for 19 consecutive years,” said Lee Kang-young, general director of Severance Hospital. “It is a testament to the hard work and passion we have put into creating the best medical environment.”
Since 2007, Severance Hospital has taken the initiative to obtain JCI accreditation, thereby enhancing its expertise and credibility as a medical institution. It has also introduced the concept of patient experience into its management, systematizing wellness-centered healthcare services across treatment, hospitality, and facility use.
The hospital has improved accessibility and convenience by actively promoting digital transformation -- upgrading the “My Severance” app, enabling patients to check schedules for unscheduled examinations, and automating appointments using the AI voice robot “Cerabot.” It also carries out various initiatives to enhance patient satisfaction, including the “Sound Sleep Project” and the “Rounds Question Board.”
Severance Hospital introduced Korea’s first heavy ion therapy machine to provide precision treatment for intractable cancers such as prostate, pancreatic, and liver cancer. It is also leading the development of a precision medicine and digital healthcare ecosystem through an AI–3D printing-based diagnostic technology platform, a next-generation medical image storage system (PACS), and the digital therapy integration platform “Connect-DTx.”
“Severance Hospital aims to be Korea’s most trusted hospital by prioritizing patients and offering a reliable medical environment and high-quality care,” Lee said. “We will continue to innovate as a hospital that leads Korea's wellness medical culture and the future of healthcare.”
