Philips Korea, Samsung Medical Center to establish global MRI reference center within SMC
Philips Korea said it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Samsung Medical Center (SMC) to establish a global MRI reference center within SMC.
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), a pivotal technology in precision diagnostic imaging, is expanding its clinical applications through advancements in digital and AI technologies.
Recently, Philips introduced its high-performance MRI system, the MR 7700, designed to enable healthcare professionals to evaluate diseases more quickly and accurately while conducting comprehensive clinical research.
The Philips MR 7700 features an upgraded XP model gradient, improving image quality and scan speed. Its SmartSpeed AI platform, incorporating Compressed SENSE and Adaptive-CS-net AI algorithms, reduces image noise and enhances resolution by up to 65%. Additionally, it can detect signals from six different atoms, including hydrogen, phosphorus, carbon, sodium, fluorine, and xenon, providing diverse metabolic information, making it highly specialized for clinical research.
As part of this initiative, Philips Korea has selected Samsung Medical Center as a global reference center for MRI, focusing on collaborative clinical research using the Philips MR 7700.
The partnership will involve clinical validation of the MR 7700, joint research on new MRI imaging techniques, clinical consulting, site visits to Korean and international medical institutions, and support for internal and external training programs.
“We are delighted to collaborate with Philips to advance clinical research using their MRI solutions,” SMC Radiology Department Head Professor Han Boo-kyung said. “This partnership will enhance our capability to deliver top-notch care, research, and education, contributing to healthier and happier lives.”
Philips’ President of Health Systems for the Asia Pacific region Mark Burby also said, “We are thrilled to form this significant partnership with SMC, leveraging Philips’ advanced MR technology,”
The Philips MR 7700, with its enhanced gradient and AI technology, improves workflow efficiency, diagnostic outcomes, and supports cutting-edge research in MR imaging, Burby added.
