Sky Labs celebrates 1st anniversary of ring-type BP monitor CART BP pro
CART BP pro, Sky Labs' ring-type cuffless blood pressure monitor, has marked its first anniversary since launch.
Sky Labs announced on Wednesday that since launching the CART BP pro to hospitals and clinics nationwide last September, it has been adopted by about 1,600 medical institutions for patient care in just one year. Notably, 30 out of 47 tertiary general hospitals nationwide have adopted and are using it.
CART BP pro is the world's first and only ring-type blood pressure monitor to receive medical device certification. It allows comfortable blood pressure measurement throughout the day, even during daily activities and sleep.
This enables monitoring of various blood pressure patterns that are easily missed with a single measurement in the clinic, such as white coat hypertension, masked hypertension, nocturnal blood pressure elevation, post-awakening blood pressure surge, and orthostatic hypotension, according to Sky Labs.
Compared to existing 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitors (ABPM), CART BP pro is highly rated for patient convenience. While conventional devices require wearing a cuff on the arm that periodically compresses, often causing frequent awakenings and discomfort during sleep, Cart BP pro only requires wearing a ring, allowing uninterrupted blood pressure measurement even during sleep.
That reduces patient discomfort while enabling medical professionals to obtain richer blood pressure data collected in real-life settings for disease diagnosis, the company said.
Furthermore, it enhances accuracy and reliability by incorporating a photoplethysmography (PPG) sensor and AI deep learning algorithms, it added.
While wearable devices with blood pressure measurement functions are available on the market, products approved as medical devices by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) for safety and efficacy are limited, Sky Labs CEO Lee Byung-hwan said. “CART BP pro is the world's first medical device-certified ring-type blood pressure monitor, an innovative product combining both accuracy and convenience. It provides new value to both patients and medical professionals.”
Sky Labs plans to unveil the consumer-grade ring-type blood pressure monitor, CART BP, in late September, making it available over the counter.
This product was developed based on technology validated in medical settings. Users can view a month's worth of blood pressure records at a glance via a dedicated app, offering practical support for personalized health management and lifestyle improvements, company officials said.
