Roche Diagnostics Korea said Thursday that it has appointed Kit Tang, the former general manager of Roche Diagnostics Taiwan, as its new GM effective on Oct. 1.

"General Manager Tang is an expert in the field of in-vitro diagnostics with over 20 years of experience in the diagnostic industry," the company said. Tang graduated from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology with a degree in biochemistry and a master's degree in pharmacy, and a Ph.D. in chemistry from Cambridge University in the U.K.

He joined Roche Diagnostics in 2005 as a marketing manager for Roche Diagnostics in Hong Kong and worked at various branches, including Germany, China, Switzerland, and the U.S,

During his stint as the GM of Roche Diagnostics Taiwan from 2018, he helped the company achieve double-digit growth in the 2019-2020 period.

Tang demonstrated outstanding communication skills and problem-solving skills during the crisis, such as developing a new partnership mechanism with the government in the Covid-19 pandemic and establishing a new business model for the Covid-19 products, the company said.

He also introduced an integrated laboratory automation solution to major hospitals in Taiwan and achieved results in creating a digital healthcare environment through the pilot operation of the cloud-based data integration platform Navify Tumor Board, it added.

He added that the company would continue to promote the value of diagnosis, introduce innovative diagnostic solutions, and cooperate with Korean medical workers to protect patients' quality of life and health.

Tang also stressed that he would focus on nurturing talents, fulfilling the company's social responsibilities, and establishing a corporate culture that puts people first.

"In addition, we will continue to practice Roche's patient-centered value of doing today what the patient needs tomorrow," he added.
